The Chinese company NetDragon has appointed an AI-powered virtual humanoid robot as the director of one of its subsidiaries, Fujian NetDragon Websoft. According to the company's official announcement, the appointment of a bot named Tang Yu "is a move towards pioneering the use of AI to transform corporate governance and leapfrog operational efficiency to a new level" and "a milestone towards a metaverse organization."

The humanoid virtual robot is supposed to "improve the flow of processes, improve the quality of task execution and increase the speed of their execution". Tang Yu will also act (her visualization is female) as a "real-time data hub and analytical tool to support rational decision-making in day-to-day operations and enable a more effective risk management system."

NetDragon Websoft is a Chinese game development company that has, m.in such titles as: Eudemons Online, Heroes Evolved, Conquer Online and Under Oath.

"From our point of view, the metaverse is something that is not a passing fad and will exist, and the AI CEO is part of our plan to enter this world. We're doing it seriously," Simon Leung, the company's vice president, told CNBC in September.
